BOK Center Master Plan | GH2 Architects, LLC
Photography By: Yellow Dog Design Works: Susan Rainey
The BOK Center master plan is designed to emphasize community involvement and to epitomize the defining fun identity of the City of Tulsa. New facilities were designed to be family-friendly, such as a 10,000-square-foot restaurant, a café, an ice rink that doubles as a summer splash pad, and a winter snow tubing area. New streetscaping, infrastructure upgrades, plaza areas and a pedestrian mall are also planned to be included, providing additional event spaces and entertainment options. With the rapid growth of the downtown area, it’s important that one of its most iconic landmarks function efficiently and be utilized fully.
Route 66 Gateways | Dewberry Architects, Inc.
Photography By: Pam Taylor & Stephen Vogt
Travelers entering Tulsa along Route 66 from both the east and west are now greeted with new gateway structures that arch over the Mother Road and welcome them to the city. The Gateways reflect the Art Deco style that was prominent during the era Route 66 flourished. The structures reach out over the roadway proudly displaying a Route 66 shield and the word “TULSA.” A smaller gateway element is set across the roadway to symbolically complete the arch and to remind motorists that they are leaving Tulsa’s Route 66 corridor and encourage them to come back soon and often.
